The feel of fall is definitely in the air this week. We've had cooler temperatures and many cloudy and rainy days. There has been frost in some areas at night, and the temperatures have been mostly in the low 50s. In the early afternoon on Saturday I went to Creamer's Field, and for a short while there was some sunshine. It wasn't the best time of day for seeing birds, but I went for a walk anyway. There were signs of fall color and the Fireweed has mostly gone to seed, but a few stragglers were still showing some blooms.
I walked to the back fields, and as there were no Sandhill Cranes there I decided to take the trail through the trees on the other side of the field.
Across all the fields the barns were a distant sight. Many people were enjoying the few hours of sunshine along the trail between the fields.
There were Cranes flying above, but they mostly stayed up quite high.
I like the view of the barns peeking through the trees as you follow the trail back to the front fields.
Around to the front of the barns, the pigeons were lined up on the cupolas and the roof peaks.
When I started out the sky was still quite gray, but the pigeons were quite active and I took several pictures of them around the barns. To add a bit of color I upped the saturation.
When I went back to my car, I spotted two large white spots near one of the ponds. The ponds are a bit of a stretch for my zoom lens, but I still was able to get some photos of the Trumpeter Swans resting by the pond.
The forecast for the next several days is for temperatures in the mid 60s, but rain showers are still predicted. Hopefully I'll be able to find a sunny window for another photo shoot.
