While all the Chickadees were flying around, one little Warbler landed on a branch about 15 feet from me. A bit shyer than the bold Chickadees, the landing was very brief. I managed to get a few shots, but only one that was in focus. Checking my bird books and looking for Warblers that we get in Interior Alaska, my best guess is that this is most likely a juvenile Townsend's Warbler.

Hiding in the Dahlias
Today was a rainy day, but this afternoon the sun came out for a short spell. Looking out my window at the pot of dahlias on my deck, I saw some activity.
There was a little bird peeking out.

Myrtle Warbler II
Myrtle Warbler?
A few weeks ago a group of birds were flitting around in the upper branches of the trees in my back yard. They were very elusive and out of many shots I only got a few that I was able to crop to see the birds a little closer. They were quite noisy though.
From my bird books and online photos it appears to me to be a Yellow-rumped Warbler, subspecies Myrtle Warbler, but I didn't find a picture of a juvenile bird.
I am wondering if the photo below is of an adult male in breeding plumage and the other bird is a juvenile. In the photo above it looks to me like the bird behind the tree could be the same as in the photo below. I know these aren't the clearest photos, but I hope they are good enough for someone to identify them. Clicking to see the enlarged view helps.
The bird in the photo above really looks like the he is floating in midair, but I imagine he is just hopping or preparing to fly. He probably saw me below clicking away madly and was trying to get out of view. They could have popped down to the ground for a minute or two for their portraits and then been on their merry way, but no.....
