Animals at Old Bedford Village
Animals played an important part in early Pennsylvania life. While we were at Old Bedford Village we met several. There were a couple of horses, Belle and Nikki. One, I don't know which, came to ask for some treats.
After a few pats, we walked away.
Belle or Nikki, whichever one it was, didn't seem to appreciate that we didn't give her any treats.
Next we met Molly and Martha. Their names were on the fence, but they didn't choose to say which was which, so again I can't tell you if Molly was white.....
Or brown.
They too came over to ask for treats.
Molly, or perhaps it was Martha, seemed a little more insistent about getting a treat.
In her frustration with us, she resorted to tasting the fence
I do not believe it tasted good.

Down the Alcan: Buffalo to Hot Springs to Dawson Creek
Yesterday morning we started out at Watson Lake. In the morning we saw lots of buffalo along the road. I was about 15 feet from this guy. Needless to say, I did not get out of the pickup! They totally ignored us, but.....
It was a beautiful day for a drive. There was patchy fog, but it was a beautiful day.
We stopped off at Liard Hot Springs and enjoyed a nick soak in the hot water. The temperature was about 35 degrees but the sun was shining and the water was warm and it was wonderful. We only were in the water about 20 minutes, which is all the time they recommend because of the water temperature, but it was a very relaxing break.
We came across some stone goats on the road. They are very reluctant to get off for traffic, but when a big semi came along they scrambled to the side of the road.
We were still in the mountains and again there was snow along the road a good share of the way.
We saw a couple of different groups of caribou. This was a small group of three.
Before we dropped out of the mountains we had a beautiful view to the valley far below.
We dropped into the valley at Fort Nelson where we spent the night.
The map shows our journey yesterday, and then we picked it up this morning and were on to Dawson Creek this morning.
We arrived there this afternoon. Dawson Creek is the end of the Alcan--or the beginning, depending on which way you start from.
Tonight we are at Fox Creek, which is about 150 miles north of Edmonton. In the morning we'll continue on through the plains of Alberta. We will probably cross the border into the U.S. Saturday morning, and then on to Mona and Don's in Hinsdale, Montana. From time to time, I'll post more photos from the Alcan. I took lots! More roadtrip photos to come.
